Marylou Riggle

 

Marylou Riggle is one of our faithful retired missionaries.  She was a career assignment missionary for the Church of the Nazarene in Costa Rica.

 

Marylou received the Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Olivet Nazarene University, and the Master of Science degree in Education from Indiana University.  She received the Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry degrees from Nazarene Theological Seminary.  She is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene.

 

Her first missionary appointment was to Belize, formerly known as British Honduras, in 1965.  She served there twelve years in educational ministries and evangelism.  She also served as the Council treasurer and was involved in leadership training in local churches.

 

Marylou served as Academic Dean and Director of the Nazarene Theological Institute, now Nazarene Theological Seminary, in Guatemala from 1977 to 1987.   She also served as Professor of Theology and as Coordinator of the non-residential educational programs.

 

She served as Academic Vice Rector at Nazarene Seminary of the Americas in Costa Rica from 1987 through 1993 and from 1996 to 2000.  She served as Campus Pastor during 1994 and 1995.  She also served as Professor of Biblical and Contemporary Theology and Spiritual Formation.  Her responsibilities have included serving in pastoral ministry and as Council Treasurer.

 

She was elected in 1998 as District Superintendent of the Costa Rica Central District of the Church of the Nazarene and plans to served in that capacity until she left the field in May 2003 for a one year of home assignment before retiring in the US.

 

Marylou has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Evangelical Theological Education in Latin America (AETAL) and from 1992 until 2001 as a member of the Accrediting Commission of AETAL.

 

Marylou is now quote retired and lives in Urbania, Ohio.  She continues to promote and support missions in her retirement.
